Being a Host at Santiam Pass

Do you love Hoodoo and want to help other skiers, riders, and guests have a great experience on the mountain?

Are you looking for a way to give back to the mountain community?

Consider joining the new Hoodoo Mountain Host program!
What’s a Mountain Host?

We’re a team of friendly volunteers who help skiers, riders, and guests have a great day on the mountain. We provide directions, help keep lift lines running smoothly, offer mountain tours, and promote safety.

What’s a typical day as a Mountain Host?

  • 8:30am Team meeting
  • 9am help in lodge with rentals and information
  • 10am-noon ski/ride the mountain, direct traffic at lift lines, provide directions, help at Host Info table,
  • Noon Lunch
  • 12:30-4p ski/ride the mountain, direct traffic at lift lines, provide directions, help at Host Info table

What are the requirements?

To volunteer as a Mountain Host, you’ll need to become a National Ski Patrol (NSP) member (membership is $100/year), complete the NSP Outdoor First Care online course (about two hours), and participate in several in-person training sessions this fall (3-4 days total). You will also need to pass a Ski Test at the beginning of the season.
Once you are trained as a Host, your volunteer commitment is 3 shifts per month during the ski season (Host shifts are on Saturdays and Sundays).

Are there any perks?

Glad you asked! As a Hoodoo Mountain Host, you will receive a season ski pass for yourself, first aid and CPR training, and an opportunity to work on a team to make a difference at Hoodoo.

Sounds great! What are the next steps?
